Description: This post summarizes my year in web and my game and website development career this school year.
I Made It to the end of the school year! (somehow)

Hey y’all, It’s me, Owen (of course you knew that). Welp, we made it to the end of the school year which means that next year, I will become a senior. That’s right, I will now have the responsibility and pleasure to teach a new generation of freshmen while also taking on harder tasks than ever before! One second *screams into a pillow for half an hour out of exhaustion and fear*. If I had to summarize my year in short, I would say that the first part of the year was setting up my mental fortress, and the second part of the year weathering the storm. But it’s probably better if we focus on what I’ve accomplished at the end of the school year than how tired I am so we should probably start with that (plus that’s the part I’m getting graded on).
What I’ve Improved On

This year I definitely improved on my social skills. I’ve learned a lot about how to approach certain situations. I’m not perfect in that department yet, but it’s a noticeable improvement. Another thing that I’ve improved at is (obviously) my coding skills. Getting my game development career off the ground has opened my eyes to tons of coding languages, applications, etc. I’ve also used this newfound knowledge to start improving my creativity. And over the year I made some pretty cool websites (which we’ll talk about later). And lastly, I think mental health has greatly improved this year. Though I am tired, I think I’m starting to get the hang of my life. So that’s what I’ve improved upon at the end of the school year, now it’s time for the bad stuff!
My Shortcomings

Of course, it wouldn’t be an end-of-the-year review without talking about stuff I wasn’t good at. First of all my timing in everything was terrible. To clarify, I have a problem with being late to things. Most of the time it’s because I’ll think I have time, forget about it, and then do whatever I need to do at the last minute. But this year (and don’t ask me how), I think I had the opposite problem. I think that in web I got so much work done ahead of time that when I was done I didn’t know what to do. I would just watch YouTube on my computer until another load of work was dropped at my feet. And that made it worse for when I did need to do work because then I was too groggy and tired to do it. Other than that I think that’s it.
Next Year (oh no)

Like I said, next year I’ll be a senior, and that makes me terrified! I am just now realizing that I am not a freshman anymore. After that, I’ll be in college for another four years, then I’ll have a job (not like I don’t have a job already). This website will still be here though, I’m not getting rid of it. I’m planning to keep this sucker alive longer than me at this point. I will eventually next year make a project page for my website so that way y’all can see what I’ve been making over the years. And of course, some new games are on their way. I’ll also most likely have a great time mentoring this year since I just generally like helping people.
Conclusion (aka goodbye for now)

After this blog post, I will be going dark for a while. Part of the reason is that I have a job over the summer at a theme park (no I’m not telling you where it is because I know y’all we’ll try to track me down). Another part is because I’ve been working with a few people to make my first Steam game! I can’t say much but I can assure you it’ll be a great experience. But the last part is that I think I need to take a break from the computer world for a while. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my line of work. It allows me to create stuff like this after all! But honestly, I think it’s nice to touch some grass. If this year has taught me anything, it’s that in life there are no shortcuts, only obstacles. And it’s our job to find a way around them. Well, that’s it for me, I hope you all have a great summer!
